Prosecutor's offices are systematically working to expose and hold accountable individuals who embezzle state budget funds.

Prosecutors of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office have notified 9 individuals of suspicion in criminal proceedings regarding significant damages to the state. Among the suspects:

• The director of a limited liability company – embezzled budget funds allocated for the restoration of the Kherson Regional Art Museum named after O. Shovkunenko and laundered them through controlled companies. Damages – 28.4 million UAH;

• The head of a medical institution of the regional council and the director of a private firm – supplied unsuitable medical clothing, damages – 3.1 million UAH;

• The founder of a limited liability company who reconstructed a kindergarten in the village of Muzykivka – fictitious acts of completed works with false information regarding volumes and materials, damages – 1.3 million UAH;

• The head of the department of the Kherson City Council – failed to ensure technical supervision during the installation of mobile shelters, damages – 1.2 million UAH;

• The director of a limited liability company and a technical supervision engineer – inflated volumes during the roof repair of a school, damages – 1.05 million UAH;

• The chief accountant of the municipal enterprise of Kherson – illegal payments to five individuals who were not actually working, damages – 630 thousand UAH;

• The chief accountant of the village council of the Kherson district – entered into a contract with an individual entrepreneur without verifying documents, resulting in damages of 551 thousand UAH.

The total amount of damages established by the investigation is 36.2 million UAH.

The actions of the suspects are qualified under part 4, 5 of Article 191, part 2 of Article 209, part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police with operational support from the UCR and the SBU of Ukraine in the Kherson region. Prosecutors are preparing motions for the selection of preventive measures and are taking steps to recover damages.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
