In Cherkasy, anesthesiologist was reported suspicion of the death of a 7-year-old child

Under the procedural guidance of juvenile prosecutors of the Cherkasy District Prosecutor's Office, a doctor-anesthesiologist has been notified of suspicion for improper performance of professional duties, which resulted in the death of a minor (part 2 of Article 140 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation established that in November 2024, during a scheduled operation, the medical professional violated the requirements of the instructions regarding the use and dosage of the medication - anesthesia, demonstrating negligence in fulfilling their duties. As a result, the child died.
Within the framework of the criminal proceedings, a number of examinations have been conducted, including a commission forensic medical examination, which confirmed the identified violations. At the prosecutor's request, the suspect has been suspended from performing professional duties.
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of restriction of liberty for up to 5 years or imprisonment for up to 3 years.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Cherkasy District Police Department.
Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
