In Kyiv, a children's jiu-jitsu coach is suspected of sexual violence against an 11-year-old girl - the man is already in custody

Under the procedural guidance of juvenile prosecutors of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, a 37-year-old Brazilian jiu-jitsu coach has been notified of suspicion of sexual violence against his 11-year-old student.
It has been established that the 37-year-old professional athlete conducted individual training sessions for children in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. During one of these sessions, while alone with the child, the man undressed her and committed sexual violence. The coach took advantage of the fact that the girl has speech impairments, trusts him, and would not tell her parents about it.
The actions of the suspect have been qualified under part 4 of Article 153 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, namely as sexual violence committed against a person who has not reached the age of fourteen, regardless of her voluntary consent.
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of five to ten years.
An alternative-free preventive measure in the form of detention for a period of 60 days has been applied to the suspect.
The pre-trial investigation, under the procedural guidance of juvenile prosecutors of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, is being conducted by juvenile investigators of the National Police of Ukraine in Kyiv.
Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
