Prosecutors of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office have notified the head of one of the district departments of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection in the Kyiv region and an inspector from another district department of their suspicion. They are suspected of receiving unlawful benefits from a company engaged in poultry farming and the sale of meat and eggs.
It has been established that the company, after expanding its production capacity, initiated an inspection of its production to obtain all necessary approval documents for legal operation. During the inspection, specialists from the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection issued a directive indicating the violations that needed to be rectified.
After this, the entrepreneur was informed that he would need to pay 25,000 hryvnias monthly, later requesting an additional 15,000 hryvnias for positive laboratory test results of the products.
Subsequently, the mandatory monthly payment of 40,000 hryvnias was supposed to guarantee the uninterrupted operation of the company.
The head of one of the district departments of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection in the Kyiv region has been notified of suspicion of aiding a public official in receiving unlawful benefits (part 5 of article 27, part 3 of article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), while the inspector is suspected of receiving unlawful benefits combined with extortion of such benefits (part 3 of article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Note: According to article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
