Under the procedural guidance of the Ternopil Regional Prosecutor's Office, a doctor from one of the departments of the Ternopil hospital has been notified of suspicion of abuse of influence (Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, the suspect offered a patient assistance in obtaining a disability group. He assured the woman of his ability to influence the members of the expert team assessing the individual's daily functioning. He valued his service at 5,000 US dollars. The woman, who had been treated at this medical facility for the past two years and had every reason to process the documents due to her existing illness, reported the doctor's illegal demands to law enforcement.

Law enforcement officers detained the doctor in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine while he was receiving the money. Currently, the issue of choosing a preventive measure for him is being resolved.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police in the Ternopil region with operational support from the Strategic Investigations Department in the Ternopil region.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
