Kharkiv will judge a man who fired and beat the Armed Forces veteran

An indictment has been sent to court regarding a 43-year-old resident of Kharkiv, who opened fire on a Ukrainian defender during a conflict. He is charged with hooliganism using a pre-prepared weapon (Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the materials of the pre-trial investigation, the incident occurred on the evening of August 3, 2025, near a house on 92nd Brigade Street. During an argument, the man pulled out a pistol with rubber bullets and shot at his opponent. When the victim fell, the attacker beat him with his hands and feet, attempting to strangle him.

The victim of the attack was a 22-year-old serviceman who lost a leg during combat and uses a prosthesis.

On the same day, law enforcement officers detained the attacker, who is currently in custody.

Prosecutors from the Nemishlyansky District Prosecutor's Office of Kharkiv have sent the indictment to court. The article's sanction provides for imprisonment from 3 to 7 years.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
