In Kharkiv, at the request of the prosecutor's office, a local resident was taken into custody who, at the request of the Russian Federation, set fire to the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces

Under the procedural guidance of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, a 21-year-old man has been notified of suspicion for obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations during a special period (Part 1 of Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation has established that an unemployed resident of Kharkiv published a job search advertisement on a popular classifieds website. He was contacted by a representative from the Russian Federation, who reached out to him via the Telegram messenger.

For a monetary reward, the young man was tasked with setting military vehicles on fire in the city, to which he agreed.

In July 2025, the Kharkiv resident, acting on the instructions of the Russian side, set fire to a military SUV on Kadenyuk Street.

Law enforcement identified the executor and detained him. At the request of the prosecutor's office, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention without the right to bail.

The suspect's involvement in other episodes of arson of military vehicles is being investigated.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Investigative Department of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region with operational support from the Department of Military Counterintelligence of the SBU and the Criminal Investigation Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kharkiv region.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
