30.06.2025
The head of the Berehiv forestry of the "Carpathian Forest Office" branch of the State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine" has been notified of suspicion of abuse of office, which caused severe consequences.
According to the investigation materials, during March-April 2025, the official, using his position, established the sale of high-grade oak timber. It was sold to enterprises without legal grounds for doing so.
To implement the plan, the suspect involved subordinates, acquaintances, and a company under his control – he was its fictitious owner. Two employees refused to carry out the criminal instructions of the manager, while the others agreed.
At the direction of the head of the Berehiv forestry, oak was misrepresented as firewood in official documents. Based on these documents, 20 cubic meters of timber products were sold to a company from Mukachevo, which did not have the necessary permits for its acquisition.
Law enforcement officers stopped a truck with timber during its transportation to Volyn.
The total value of the illegally alienated timber products amounts to over 922 thousand UAH.
The head of the forestry has been served a notice of suspicion under part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Prosecutors have filed a motion with the court for the arrest of the suspect and his suspension from office.
The full circle of involved persons and other possible facts of illegal activity is being established.
The pre-trial investigation, under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor's Office of the Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor's Office, is being conducted by the Territorial Administration of the State Bureau of Investigation located in Lviv, with operational support from the Strategic Investigations Department in the Transcarpathian region, the Criminal Investigation Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Transcarpathian region, and with the assistance of the Internal Security Department of the State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine".
Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
