The head of a private enterprise has been exposed for embezzling budget funds allocated for the capital repair of a street in the village of Mynai, Uzhhorod district.

According to the investigation materials, throughout 2024, he ensured the forgery of official documents and inflated the volumes and costs of asphalt mixtures, as well as the work on laying asphalt. Based on the submitted fictitious documents, over 1.6 million hryvnias were embezzled from the budget, as confirmed by the expert conclusion.

The contractor has been notified of suspicion of embezzling someone else's property in particularly large amounts through abuse of office and official forgery (part 5 of article 191, part 1 of article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Currently, the issue of choosing a preventive measure for him is being resolved. Within the framework of the investigation, the involvement of other individuals in the committed crime is also being established.

Under the procedural guidance of the Uzhhorod District Prosecutor's Office, the pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings is being conducted by the investigators of Police Station No. 1 of the Uzhhorod District Police Department with the operational support of the Strategic Investigations Department in the Transcarpathian region.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
