Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office, participants in a scheme to smuggle conscripts across the border, organized by a lawyer from Zaporizhzhia, have been exposed.

According to the investigation, the local human rights activist, along with her assistant and other accomplices, helped men of conscription age avoid mobilization and leave Ukraine. Using professional connections, she facilitated the preparation of a package of medical documents that granted the right to cross the border without hindrance, primarily by establishing fictitious disability for a close relative and arranging guardianship over them.

The cost of the "services" ranged from 4,000 to 6,000 US dollars.

The organizer of the scheme was detained while receiving 6,000 US dollars in unlawful benefits. An additional 10,000 US dollars and 1,500 euros were seized from her vehicle.

A similar incident was documented by law enforcement in the spring of 2025.

The women have been notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. By court decision, they have been placed in custody with the possibility of bail.

Pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and other involved persons are being identified.

The measures to expose the scheme were carried out by the prosecutor's office in cooperation with investigators from the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Zaporizhzhia region, with operational support from the Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police of Ukraine.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
