Juvenile prosecutors of the Zaporizhzhia Regional and Dnipro District Prosecutor's Offices upheld in the appellate instance the sentence of a resident of Zaporizhzhia, found guilty of raping a minor (Part 3 of Article 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). 

The crime occurred in June 2024. A 20-year-old student from one of the local universities met the minor through a chat in a messenger and invited her for a walk in the park. Taking advantage of a secluded location, he used physical force and committed sexual acts against the girl.

As a result of the crime, the victim suffered both physical injuries and psychological trauma.

By the verdict of the first instance court, he was sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment and ordered to pay 400,000 UAH in moral damages to the victim. 

The defense attempted to appeal this decision; however, the prosecutors insisted on its validity and legality. 

The Zaporizhzhia Appellate Court, agreeing with the prosecution's position, upheld the young man's sentence of 7 years in prison. The verdict is now legally binding.
