Removal from the search and exclusion from the military accounting of persons. The Ministry of Justice official was detained

Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Office of the Attorney General, the deputy head of one of the departments of the Central Interregional Department of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine (Kyiv) has been detained and notified of suspicion.

The official organized a scheme to obtain illegal benefits from conscripted men. For 20,000 US dollars, he offered to resolve issues related to removal from military registration and being wanted, citing personal connections in the territorial centers for recruitment and social support, as well as in a medical institution. The latter was supposed to issue "necessary" conclusions about an unsatisfactory state of health.

In September of this year, he received the first part of the funds amounting to 7,500 US dollars. During the transfer of the next part – 7,500 US dollars – law enforcement officers detained him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

The official from the Ministry of Justice is charged with committing criminal offenses under part 3 of Article 15, part 1 of Article 114-1, and part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (attempted obstruction of the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations during a special period and obtaining illegal benefits for oneself or a third party for influencing the decision-making of a person authorized to perform state or local government functions, combined with extortion of such benefits).

A motion has been prepared for the court to choose a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention without setting the amount of bail.

Within the framework of the criminal proceedings, verification and identification of other individuals involved in the illegal scheme are being conducted.

The pre-trial investigation is carried out by the Main Investigation Department of the Security Service of Ukraine with operational support from the Internal Security Department "Center" of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and the Main Directorate "D" of the Department for the Protection of National Statehood of the Security Service of Ukraine.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
