The Attorney General Ruslan Kravchenko held an online meeting with the Minister of Justice – Attorney General of the Republic of Poland Waldemar Żurek.
Addressing his foreign colleague, Ruslan Kravchenko first thanked the people and government of Poland for their support of Ukraine. “I thank you for the colossal support we have received from you since the first days of the full-scale invasion. The Office of the Attorney General also highly appreciates the joint work with the Ministry of Justice and the National Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Poland,” the Attorney General noted.
Effective cooperation and coordination of efforts between the prosecutorial authorities of both countries are primarily aimed at investigating international crimes.
The Attorney General thanked the Polish expert missions in Ukraine for their assistance in documenting war crimes in Borodyanka and Mykolaiv in 2022 and in the Sumy region in 2023. “These missions have helped the law enforcement agencies of Ukraine and have become an important contribution to our common cause – bringing war criminals to justice,” emphasized the Attorney General of Ukraine.
During the meeting, special attention was paid to the work of the International Center for the Prosecution of the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine (ICPA). The parties agreed to strengthen cooperation in this area, improving the developments of the investigative group in the “Ukraine” case, which is key to investigating the most serious international crimes. “The work of the ICPA is important also in the context of the future Special Tribunal regarding the crime of aggression against Ukraine,” the Attorney General emphasized. In this context, the effective cooperation between Ukraine and Poland in the field of international legal assistance was also noted.
At the end of the meeting, the parties thanked each other for the constructive dialogue, assuring the development and deepening of further bilateral cooperation.
