During the investigation, it was established that on the night of May 6, 2024, during a sudden quarrel, a man stabbed a 16-year-old boy he did not know directly in the heart with a folding knife. He died on the spot.

In the Kyiv District Court of Odesa, the prosecution supported the charges in this case. The accused, a 25-year-old man, claimed that the death was accidental: the victim allegedly ran into the knife himself.

The prosecutor refuted these claims, proving that the location of the wound, the force, and the direction of the blow clearly indicate the intentional nature of the actions. The prosecutor's conclusions were confirmed by the collected evidence.

The court agreed with the prosecutor's arguments, found the man guilty of intentional murder, and sentenced him to 13 years of imprisonment.

Considering that the issue of child protection is a priority for the work of the prosecution authorities in Ukraine, the public prosecution in the case of the murder of a minor was personally supported by the head of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office. 

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings was conducted by the investigative unit of the 1st Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odesa region.
