Prosecutors of the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor's Office, together with detectives from the Bureau of Economic Security, uncovered two construction companies that deliberately evaded tax payments totaling over 13 million UAH.

One of the housing construction cooperatives transferred 30 apartments to investors in a new building in the Chernivtsi district. Their total value exceeds 29 million UAH. However, the cooperative was not registered as a value-added tax payer, which allowed its manager to evade payments to the state budget of over 5.5 million UAH. He has been notified of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Another head of a housing construction cooperative was building a multi-apartment house in Chernivtsi and transferred 73 apartments and 27 non-residential premises to investors for a total amount of nearly 49 million UAH. He also did not reflect these transactions in tax declarations, which led to evasion of VAT of nearly 7.5 million UAH.

He has been notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Currently, the suspect is hiding from the investigation and has been declared wanted.

Pre-trial investigations in the criminal proceedings are being conducted by detectives of the territorial department of the Bureau of Economic Security in the Chernivtsi region under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor's office.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
