Under the procedural guidance of the Dnipro Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Eastern region and the operational support of the Department of Military Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine, suspicions have been announced against the chief of staff-deputy commander of a military unit and a serviceman of the same unit.

As part of the pre-trial investigation conducted by the Investigative Department of the National Police in the Dnipropetrovsk region, it has been established that the chief of staff - a lieutenant colonel, abusing his official position, unjustifiably accrued monetary support and additional rewards ranging from 15,000 to 30,000 hryvnias monthly to one of the junior sergeants. The latter was absent from his place of service and did not conduct, as he was supposed to, training at the training center for units.

Thus, the chief of staff of the military unit unjustifiably accrued and paid to the junior sergeant monetary funds totaling over 704,000 hryvnias, causing the state losses in that amount.

The officer has been informed of the suspicion of committing criminal offenses under part 2 of article 364, part 5 of article 27, part 4 of article 409 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The junior sergeant has been informed of the suspicion of committing criminal offenses under part 4 of article 190 and part 4 of article 409 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Note: according to article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
