A meeting on issues related to combating juvenile crime, domestic violence, and preventing suicide cases among children was held under the chairmanship of the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, Yuriy Papusha.
The state of pre-trial investigations into criminal proceedings involving minors, the causes and conditions of crimes, and the state of combating domestic violence were discussed.
“Every child should feel the protection and support of the state. Our common task is to provide timely assistance to victims and ensure effective interaction among all services”, emphasized the head of the regional prosecutor's office.
The issue of preventing suicides among children, which requires constant attention from educational, social services, and law enforcement, was discussed separately. Their main task is not just to record tragic cases but to act proactively to prevent similar situations.
“Approaches to work must be changed. We need to review and update the action algorithms of all services so that assistance is provided quickly and comprehensively, without unnecessary bureaucratic procedures, and develop new approaches to informing children in schools and society”, emphasized Yuriy Papusha.
Criminal proceedings in which children are recognized as victims will be under the personal control of the head of the regional prosecutor's office.
“Children are our main priority, and I will personally monitor the observance of their rights and interests”, stressed the head of the regional prosecutor's office.
The meeting was attended by the leadership of the regional prosecutor's office, a representative of the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights in the Dnipropetrovsk region, the deputy head of the regional military administration, representatives of the UN Population Fund in Ukraine, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the public organizations "Martin Club" and "Common Benefit," law enforcement agencies, and relevant services of the region.
As a result of the meeting, a set of joint measures was determined to enhance preventive work, improve the quality of investigations, and effectively protect children's rights.
