Under the procedural guidance of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office, together with investigators from the Security Service of Ukraine in the region, the deputy head of the Bureau of Economic Security in the Odesa region has been exposed for collaborating with the aggressor state (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the official of the Bureau of Economic Security is a co-founder of a company that has been operating in the Luhansk region since 2013. After the onset of the full-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, he not only retained his stake in this business but also continued to profit from it.
The company currently operates in the temporarily occupied territory, pays taxes to the budget of the Russian Federation, and effectively finances the military aggression against Ukraine. The official website of the company features publications calling for support for Russian military personnel and links to resources for fundraising for the needs of the occupying forces.
The deputy head of the Bureau of Economic Security in the region and his accomplice—a businessman from Dnipro, who owns a stake in the same company—have been detained. They have been notified of suspicion.
The issue of choosing a preventive measure for the mentioned individuals—detention—is being resolved.
Currently, investigative actions are ongoing.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings is being conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine in the Odesa region. Operational support is provided by the Main Department of Counterintelligence and the Main Department for the Protection of National Statehood of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Odesa region, in cooperation with the internal security unit of the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine.
Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
