In Odessa at the request of the prosecutor's office arrested a spy of the Russian Federation

At the request of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office, a 52-year-old resident of Odesa has been taken into custody without the right to bail, suspected of espionage (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, since 2014, the woman has shared pro-Russian ideological views and maintained connections with individuals who spread anti-Ukrainian propaganda. After the onset of the full-scale invasion, she agreed to confidential cooperation with a representative of the Russian special services.

She received instructions for gathering intelligence information — about the deployment and movement of Defense Forces units, military units, ammunition depots, as well as personal data of military personnel.

Under the guise of casual acquaintances, the spy ingratiated herself and extracted information. For cover, she used everyday topics and her academic activities, as the suspect holds a PhD in philology.

While communicating with a Ukrainian soldier, the woman attempted to persuade him to cooperate during the summer. She wanted the soldier to bring copies of combat documents from his unit, which the spy would then pass on to an enemy agent.

Law enforcement detained the woman in September during her next criminal activities.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings is being conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine in the Odesa region with operational support from the Department of Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
