Odessa was detained and informed of the suspicion of the head of the military hospital, who demanded $ 2,000 for assistance in recognition

Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Odesa Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the defense sector of the Southern region, the head of the Military Medical Clinical Center of the Southern region was exposed and detained while receiving an unlawful benefit.

According to the investigation, in June 2025, the suspect demanded 2,000 USD from a conscript in exchange for assistance in obtaining a conclusion from the military medical commission (VLC) that would allow the man to be recognized as partially fit for service. Such a conclusion would subsequently enable him to serve in support units, training centers, logistics, or other non-combat units.

The conscript reported the extortion to law enforcement and continued to act under their control. In October, the official was caught "in the act" while receiving the specified amount.

He was notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (extortion and receipt of unlawful benefits). At the prosecutor's request, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of 605,600 hryvnias.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators from the Investigative Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odesa region, with operational support from the Department of Military Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
