The Attorney General's office spoke of the truth of captivity and the support of families

A meeting took place at the Office of the Prosecutor General with Deputy Prosecutor General Andriy Leshchenko and representatives from the public and civil sectors. The event was attended by Member of Parliament of Ukraine Anna Purtova, head of the board of the NGO "Poligon 56 Berdyansk," GS "Association of NGOs 'Adamant'" Olena Dobych, representative of the NGO "Voyatsky Vyzvil" Natalia Yepifanova, and representative of the charitable organization "Charitable Foundation 'Stalovi'" Anastasia Savova.
Participants discussed issues related to the work of law enforcement agencies with defenders who have been released from captivity, improving the procedure for appointing and conducting forensic medical examinations in cases of torture of prisoners of war, as well as cooperation on filing crime reports in other countries under the rules of universal jurisdiction.
The parties agreed to strengthen cooperation between the Office of the Prosecutor General and representatives of public organizations that protect the rights of servicemen returned from captivity, as well as to coordinate efforts regarding accountability in other jurisdictions.
“Synergy on this issue will only contribute to restoring justice and holding war criminals accountable,” emphasized Deputy Prosecutor General Andriy Leshchenko.
The next practical steps in this direction will take place through direct communication between representatives of public organizations and employees of the Coordination Center for Supporting Victims and Witnesses of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
