Killed, dismembered and tried to burn: Mary Kharkiv Ballet Master was sentenced to 15 years in prison

Under the public prosecution of the prosecutors of the Shevchenkivskyi District Prosecutor's Office of Kharkiv, the court found a man guilty of intentional murder (part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

He was sentenced to the maximum punishment under the specified article - 15 years of imprisonment.

The crime was committed on February 17, 2024, in Kharkiv. A woman contacted the law enforcement authorities, reporting that her daughter - the chief choreographer of the Kharkiv Academic Theater of Musical Comedy - had gone missing. She had stopped answering calls and was writing quite strangely in messengers.

Law enforcement established that the choreographer and her husband were planning to divorce, so they decided to live separately. A few days before her mother reported to the police, the husband came to his wife with a suitcase, supposedly to collect personal belongings. Out of jealousy, he suspected his wife of infidelity, so he periodically monitored her communication in the messenger. During an argument, the husband inflicted knife wounds on her, from which she died. He then dismembered the body: he placed the hands and head in a bag and the torso in a suitcase.

After that, he cleaned and washed the apartment, and then went to a forested area where he buried the bag with the remains. Later, the man went to a dacha cooperative, where he placed the woman's body in an abandoned cellar, doused it with fuel, covered it with car tires, and set it on fire. He closed the cellar lid to prevent the flames from spreading to the house. This is why the fire extinguished, and the body was not completely burned.

After the murder, the accused tried to create the impression that his wife was still alive: he drove her phone around the city and responded to messages.

Law enforcement detained the man, and he awaited the verdict while in custody.

He admitted guilt in the murder of his wife.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the investigative unit of the Kharkiv District Police Department No. 3 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kharkiv region.
