Prosecutors of the Odesa Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Defense Sector of the Southern Region have approved and sent an indictment to the court regarding the commander of a military unit. He is accused of treason.

The investigation has established that in January 2025, the serviceman conspired with a citizen who collaborated with Russian special services.

Following instructions received from a curator from the Russian Federation, the accused collected and transmitted information about the positions of Ukrainian servicemen, as well as the locations of critical infrastructure facilities in the Odesa region. In particular, he took a photo at one of the military facilities, added coordinates and explanations, and sent everything to a "comrade" via the messenger "Telegram".

Law enforcement officers uncovered and detained the serviceman, qualifying his actions under Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. For committing treason, a punishment of 15 years to life imprisonment is provided, along with confiscation of property.

Currently, the accused is in custody.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the investigative department (located in the city of Odesa) of the State Bureau of Investigation in Mykolaiv.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
