A medical serviceman was informed of suspicion of illicit trafficking of psychotropic substances and potent drugs

The Desnyansky Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Defense Sector of the Central Region has reported suspicion against the head of the surgical department of one of the military units for the illegal acquisition, storage, transportation, mailing, and illegal sale of psychotropic substances and potent medicinal products.
According to the investigation, the serviceman established an illegal scheme for the sale of psychotropic substances and potent medicinal products. From April to June 2025, he repeatedly sold and purchased drugs containing the psychotropic substance "Diazepam," as well as the potent medicinal product "Zopiclone."
Sales were conducted through postal shipments with prior agreement of the terms via messengers, with payment received on a personal bank card.
During searches at the suspect's residence, a significant quantity of medical products containing narcotic substances, psychotropic substances, potent medicinal products, as well as surgical equipment, bandaging materials, plasters, and other property, the origin of which, including its affiliation with military property of the military unit, is being established, was discovered and seized.
The suspect has been chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention under Part 1, 2 of Article 307, Part 1 of Article 321 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He faces a punishment of imprisonment for up to ten years with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Chernihiv region with operational support from the Department of Combating Organized Crime in the Chernihiv region and the Department of Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine.
Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
