According to the investigation, the company commander, along with a subordinate and two civilian accomplices, were looking for individuals willing to illegally leave Ukraine.
For the transportation, they dressed the men in military uniforms, transported them in an official vehicle with military plates through Transcarpathia, and accompanied them to the border strip. The cost of such a "service" was 10 thousand US dollars for each.
The money was to be transferred by relatives after the men called from abroad and confirmed successful transportation.
Law enforcement officers detained four suspects near the border with Romania during an attempt to illegally transport two conscripts.
Under the procedural guidance of the Transcarpathian Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Western region, the accomplices have been notified of suspicion of illegal transportation of individuals across the state border, committed by a group of individuals for selfish motives (part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
They have been chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention with the right to bail. Currently, other possible participants in the scheme are being identified.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Lviv Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation with operational support from the 27th Border Detachment of the State Border Guard Service and with the assistance of the military unit's command.
Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
