China's citizens who tried to transfer secret documentation on the Ukrainian missile complex "Neptune" to the China Safety were exposed and detained

Under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, on June 26, a citizen of the People's Republic of China was notified of suspicion of espionage under Part 1 of Article 114 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

He turned out to be a 24-year-old former student of a Kyiv university, who remained in Kyiv after being expelled from the university in 2023 for academic failure, and attempted to recruit a Ukrainian citizen involved in the development of weapons for the Defense Forces.

During the pre-trial investigation conducted by the investigative department of the Security Service of Ukraine in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, it was established that the foreigner was collecting and intended to transfer to his father, who has close ties with security agencies and the General Staff of China, documentation on the Neptune missile system. This unique weapon of the Defense Forces of Ukraine is designed for fire damage to all types of combat and landing ships. It was the "Neptune" that destroyed the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation – the missile cruiser "Moskva".

While receiving this information from Ukrainian intelligence officers and attempting to pass it on, he was detained. He is currently in custody.

Another figure in the case is his father, who permanently resided in China but periodically visited Ukraine to personally coordinate his son's espionage activities. The father of the suspect entered Ukraine again on July 7 and the next day visited the Chinese embassy in Kyiv.

On July 9, within the framework of the pre-trial investigation, he was detained. The prosecutor's office plans to notify him of suspicion of espionage and to apply to the court for his detention.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
