The Kyiv Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense has reported suspicion against a former employee of a medical institution for aiding in the receipt of unlawful benefits under Part 5 of Article 27 and Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (aiding a public official in receiving unlawful benefits). 

According to the investigation, using personal connections with doctors and members of expert assessment teams, he demanded 6 thousand US dollars from a former serviceman. For this money, the suspect promised to assist in the preparation of medical documentation for the subsequent establishment of disability. 

In particular, it was about entering the necessary data into the electronic health care system and forming a referral for examination without proper grounds.

After receiving the unlawful benefit of 6 thousand US dollars, the man was exposed and detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and the unlawful benefit was seized.

A preventive measure has been chosen for him.

All involved persons are being identified.

The sanction of the incriminated article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of five to ten years, with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years, along with confiscation of property.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the city of Kyiv with operational support from the Department "D" of the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in the city of Kyiv and Kyiv region.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
