Prosecutors of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office proved in court the guilt of a 23-year-old resident of the region in a terrorist attack and arson of a military  car (Part 1 of Article 114-1, Part 2 of Article 194 and Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The man was sentenced to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.

According to the investigation, at the end of October 2024, the convict was looking for easy money in thematic groups on Telegram. Russian special services offered him to carry out tasks of organizing arson and spreading panic among local residents.

The man was instructed how to conduct reconnaissance of the area and objects, choose the right incendiary mixture, disguise himself after arson, and delete correspondence and data.

The recruit was looking for cars used by the Ukrainian military. In one of the villages of the Odesa district, he set fire to a Mitsubishi and filmed it on his phone. Later, the convict committed a new arson: he poured  a flammable substance on the front door and the building of a village club in the Usativka community of the Odesa district.

The video sent to the curators was supposed to serve as an informational occasion for pro-Russian resources to form a false impression of the alleged existence of the "underground" in the Odesa region.

A few weeks later, the enemy published a video of the arson of the House of Culture on one of the pro-Russian Telegram channels to create the impression of the existence of a "pro-Russian underground" in the region.

The man was detained on October 27, 2024.

At the request of the prosecutor's office, the convict will be in custody until the verdict comes into force. In court, he did not plead guilty to the crimes.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings was carried out by the SBU in Odesa region.
