Within the framework of the pre-trial investigation, a scheme of illegal logging has been established, organized by two foresters of the Plakhtyansky forestry of the Makaryv forestry office of the "Kyiv Forestry Office" State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine" and their accomplices.

The forestry workers and four other individuals, as part of a criminal organization, established logging and the sale of illegally cut trees during February-March 2025. The total amount of environmental damage caused is 723 thousand hryvnias, as confirmed by the conclusions of judicial engineering and ecological examinations.

Law enforcement officers conducted a series of searches at the residences of the suspects, their workplaces, as well as on the land plots where the illegally cut timber was unloaded and sold, and in the vehicles used for illegal activities.

Under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor's Office (acting as a management body) of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office and the Bucha District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv Region, depending on the illegal actions, six individuals have been notified of suspicion of creating a criminal organization and participating in it, illegal logging under part 2, 3 of Article 255, part 3 of Article 27, part 4 of Article 28, part 4 of Article 246 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings is ongoing. The involvement of other individuals in illegal logging is being established.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Bucha District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv Region.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
