A driver who committed a deadly attack on a 6-year-old boy will spend 5 years behind bars

Under the public prosecution of juvenile prosecutors from the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, the court found a resident of the Mykolaiv district guilty of violating traffic safety rules, which resulted in the death of a minor, as well as leaving the victim in danger (part 2 of article 286, part 1 of article 135 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

By the court's verdict, he was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment with a 2-year ban on driving vehicles. In addition, the court partially satisfied the civil claim of the victim's side and awarded 800,000 UAH in their favor.

Prosecutors proved in court that on July 19, 2024, in the village of Lupareve of the Halytsynivska territorial community in the Mykolaiv district, the driver of a "GAZ 2705" vehicle failed to ensure the safety of the maneuver before making a right turn, did not maintain a safe distance, and collided with a 6-year-old boy who was riding a bicycle along the right edge of the road. After that, the driver fled the scene.

As a result of the traffic accident, the child died in the hospital from the injuries sustained.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Mykolaiv region.
