On the night of October 8, 2025, the Russian Federation carried out attacks on civilian infrastructure and populated areas in the Dnipropetrovsk and Sumy regions, using artillery, Grad multiple rocket launchers, guided aerial bombs (GAB), and drones. Prosecutors and law enforcement are documenting the consequences of the shelling. 

Dnipropetrovsk Region

The Russian military attacked the Nikopol area using artillery and Grad multiple rocket launchers. In the city of Marhanets, three civilians were injured: an 18-year-old girl and two men.

In the Kryvyi Rih district, the enemy struck the Zelenodolsk community with guided aerial bombs, resulting in injuries to a man and a woman.

Additionally, as a result of a drone attack on the Novopil community, infrastructure facilities were damaged. In the Synelnykove district, residential buildings were damaged due to a drone attack on the Pokrov community.

Prosecutors are documenting the consequences of yet another war crime against the civilian population committed by the armed forces of the Russian Federation. Under the procedural guidance of the Dnipropetrovsk regional prosecutor's office, criminal proceedings have been initiated regarding the facts of war crimes (Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Sumy Region

Under the procedural guidance of the Sumy District Prosecutor's Office, pre-trial investigations are being conducted regarding the commission of war crimes that resulted in loss of life (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, on October 8, 2025, around 04:00, the occupiers dropped, according to preliminary data, three guided aerial bombs on the homes of civilians in the Bilopillia community. A 66-year-old man was killed in his own house.

The enemy also attacked an agricultural firm in the Mykolaiv rural community. A 40-year-old employee of the enterprise was killed.

In the Krasnopillia community, the occupiers struck a household with a drone. As a result of the attack, a 4-year-old girl, her 25-year-old mother, and her 56-year-old grandmother were injured.

Prosecutors, in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies, are documenting the consequences of the shelling. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators from the Sumy District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Sumy region.
