According to the investigation materials, two residents of the Lutsk district created a scheme to help men of conscription age illegally leave Ukraine during the war. It has been established that for 6200 US dollars, they promised to ensure the military conscripts' exit to Romania, bypassing official checkpoints.
To avoid attracting the attention of law enforcement and to evade mobile checkpoints, the organizers engaged various drivers and constantly changed routes. According to their plan, in the border area of Bukovina, their accomplice was to meet the "clients" and show them the way to the border.
The traffickers were detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine immediately after they received the full amount in cash from a man eager to leave the country. During authorized searches, a car, cash, rubber boots, and other material evidence were seized.
Prosecutors of the Volyn Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Western region informed the detainees of the suspicion of organizing the illegal transportation of a person across the state border (part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
At the request of the prosecution, the court has chosen preventive measures for them. Currently, measures are underway to establish the full circle of individuals involved in the illegal activity.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Volyn region, with operational support from the Department of Internal Security of the National Police and the Border Guard Service of Ukraine's 6th Border Detachment.
Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
