A citizen of the Republic of Moldova, who is internationally wanted, was taken into custody

Law enforcement officers in Khmelnytskyi detained a 34-year-old citizen of the Republic of Moldova, who has been on international wanted list since 2018 to serve her sentence.

In 2018, the Chisinau court found her guilty of human trafficking (Article 206 Part 3 (b) of the Criminal Code of Moldova) and sentenced her to 15 years in prison. The crime was committed in complicity and by exploiting the vulnerable state of the victim.

According to the case materials, at the end of 2013, the convicted woman, under the pretext of "visiting a friend," took a 16-year-old girl to Chisinau. Taking advantage of the fact that the minor had no money, housing, or parental supervision, the woman, along with an accomplice, forced her into prostitution. They rented an apartment, placed advertisements online, and negotiated with "clients" themselves.

The girl was held and forced to provide sexual services from December 2013 to February 2014.

The woman was detained in Khmelnytskyi in November 2025. At the request of the District Prosecutor's Office of the city of Khmelnytskyi, the court applied a temporary arrest until an official extradition request is received.

Currently, procedures are underway for the extradition of the convicted individual to the Republic of Moldova to serve the imposed sentence.
