Driving driver from Kyiv region, who in a state of alcoholic intoxication committed an accident, which causes two children to be injured

Under the procedural guidance of the head of the Bilocherkiv District Prosecutor's Office, a man has been notified of suspicion for violating traffic safety rules by a person operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, which caused serious bodily harm to the victim (part 2 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), and for willfully failing to comply with a court decision (part 1 of Article 382 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
On August 1, 2025, in the village of Rokytne, Bilocherkiv District, while driving a car under the influence of alcohol, the suspect hit two children aged 12 and 13 who were walking along the roadside.
As a result of the accident, the children were diagnosed by medical professionals with a closed traumatic brain injury with a concussion, a closed jaw fracture, a chest contusion, a closed knee joint injury, and multiple abrasions on the face, torso, and limbs.
It was established that in April 2025, a district court found the man guilty of committing an administrative offense under part 5 of Article 126 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses, and imposed an administrative penalty in the form of a fine with a deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of five years.
Law enforcement officers detained the driver in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
The Bilocherkiv City District Court found the arguments of the head of the Bilocherkiv District Prosecutor's Office to be justified and imposed a preventive measure in the form of detention with the determination of the maximum amount of bail.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by juvenile investigators of the Bilocherkiv Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kyiv region under the procedural guidance of juvenile prosecutors of the Bilocherkiv District Prosecutor's Office of the Kyiv region.
Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
