Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Odesa Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Southern region, indictments have been sent to court against five individuals suspected of illegally processing documents for disability and deferment from mobilization for a monetary reward.

The investigation established that in February 2025, a former military accounting and reservation inspector from one of the Odesa territorial recruitment and social support centers, a serviceman of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, and three civilians organized a scheme to obtain unlawful benefits.

They offered a conscript $16,000 to influence officials of the recruitment center regarding his removal from the wanted list and the processing of a deferment from conscription due to the need for constant care for his mother.

The transfer of funds occurred in several stages: initially, they received $6,000 and 20,000 hryvnias, and in April, during the receipt of the remaining amount of $6,000, their actions were uncovered by law enforcement, after which the accused were detained.

The actions of the accused have been classified under Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of influence committed by a group of persons in conspiracy).

The pre-trial investigation and operational support were carried out by the Second Investigative Department (located in Odesa) of the Territorial Administration of the State Bureau of Investigation in Mykolaiv.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
