Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Defense Sector of the Southern Region, the commander of a linear-cable unit of one of the military units has been detained. He demanded and received an unlawful benefit from a subordinate serviceman.

According to the investigation, in December 2024, the commander demanded $2,000 from the subordinate for the opportunity to effectively avoid performing official duties, evade deployment to a combat zone, and remain at his place of permanent residence.

The serviceman informed law enforcement agencies about the received proposal, and the situation was subsequently under their control. The suspect was detained immediately after receiving the unlawful benefit.

The commander has been notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention with the right to post bail in the amount of 1.2 million hryvnias.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the investigative department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odessa region, with operational support from the Security Service of Ukraine in the Odessa region.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
