On September 8, 2025, at approximately 05:50, a traffic accident occurred in Kyiv involving a service vehicle driven by a military serviceman.

According to preliminary data, the serviceman, while driving on Oleny Telihy Street, lost control, veered into oncoming traffic, and collided with another vehicle. 

As a result of the accident, the driver and passenger of the vehicle traveling in the opposite direction died at the scene.

A criminal proceeding has been opened in connection with this incident under part 2 of Article 415 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of driving or operation rules of a combat, special, or transport vehicle that resulted in death).

Currently, an examination of the scene has been conducted, recordings from surveillance cameras have been seized, witnesses are being identified, and relevant expert examinations will be appointed in the future.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigations in Kyiv under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Central region.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
