Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Office of the Prosecutor General, a criminal proceeding has been initiated regarding the possible abuse of power or official authority by employees of the law enforcement agency, which resulted in serious consequences (Part 3 of Article 365 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation materials, on September 17, one of the inmates in the Kyiv detention center fell ill - medical staff discovered severe internal injuries. He was hospitalized and operated on. 

Today, September 24, the man died in the hospital.

It is worth noting that the deceased defendant was an employee of the same detention center, who was accused of unlawful actions that led to the death of another inmate.

Currently, initial investigative actions are underway, and all circumstances of the incident and possible involved parties are being established. The prosecution is taking all measures to ensure a complete, objective, and impartial investigation.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the investigators of the State Bureau of Investigation.
