On the initiative of Khmelnytskyi prosecutors from Germany, the accused was extraordinary in extortion and obstruction of the court's activity

The Khmelnytskyi Regional Prosecutor's Office has initiated an international search for a resident of Khmelnytskyi, accused of extortion, hooliganism, and interference with the activities of judicial authorities (Part 2 of Article 189, Part 2 of Article 296, Part 1 of Article 376 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

In May of this year, he was detained on the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany, and on August 26, 2025, he was handed over to Ukrainian law enforcement at the international checkpoint "Krakivets-Korchowa".

According to the investigation, in March 2017, the man, together with an accomplice, extorted 600 US dollars from the head of one of the communal enterprises in the region, threatening to create obstacles in professional activities. In addition, he repeatedly interfered with the administration of justice – disrupting court sessions and behaving defiantly.

Subsequently, during the court proceedings on the indictments, the accused did not appear at the hearings and left the country, which led to him being declared wanted internationally.

Currently, a preventive measure has been applied to him in the form of detention without the right to bail. He faces a punishment of imprisonment for up to 7 years. Another participant in the crime has already been held accountable.

The public prosecution in court is carried out by the Khmelnytskyi Regional Prosecutor's Office.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in the manner prescribed by law and confirmed by a guilty verdict of the court.
