Under the public prosecution of the prosecutors of the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor's Office, a resident of Odesa region has been found guilty of state treason (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

He has been sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Prosecutors in court proved that from December 2023 to May 2025, the man was engaged in reconnaissance and subversive activities against Ukraine in favor of the Russian Federation.

He established a communication channel via the messenger "Telegram" with a representative of the aggressor state — an employee of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, to whom he transmitted data regarding military facilities, critical infrastructure, and industrial enterprises in Odesa.

He detailed the operational features of the facilities, access regimes, technological processes, and provided coordinates of locations and photographic materials with geographical markings. In addition, he sent data about Ukrainian servicemen: their training, activities of territorial recruitment centers, results of missile strikes, operation of air defense systems, as well as sentiments among the civilian population.

To gather information, the accused used both his own observations and data from open sources and communication with acquaintances who were servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The hostile informant also expressed a willingness to personally join the armed forces of the Russian Federation.

Law enforcement officers detained him in May 2025.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Chernivtsi region with operational support from the counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine.
