Two occupiers were sentenced for the imprisonment and murder of two civilians in Chernihiv Oblast

Prosecutors in Chernihiv region proved the guilt of two occupiers in the cruel treatment of civilians and violations of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder, committed by a group of individuals in premeditated conspiracy (part 2 of article 28, part 2 of article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). By the court's verdict, both were sentenced to life imprisonment.

In March 2022, the accused, together with other invaders, were in one of the temporarily occupied villages of the Chernihiv district. They captured two civilians and, attempting to obtain information about their alleged cooperation with Ukrainian servicemen, imprisoned them. The men were held in inhumane conditions for three days. On the fourth day, the occupiers shot them with automatic weapons in the basement of one of the village houses.

The men died on the spot from multiple penetrating and blind gunshot wounds.

We remind you that the court proceedings of the criminal case began in May 2025. The case was considered under the special court proceedings procedure "in absentia".

The special pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police in Chernihiv region.
