For calls for overthrow and desertion of a serviceman sentenced to 6 years in prison

Under the public prosecution of the Chernihiv Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the defense sector of the Central region, a serviceman has been found guilty of desertion under martial law and public calls for violent change of the constitutional order and seizure of state power.

It was established that in April 2024, the military voluntarily left his unit on the eve of the redeployment of the unit to the combat zone and hid for over 9 months, avoiding military service.

In addition, he spread video recordings on social media in which he justified desertion and called for a violent change of power in Ukraine.

According to the conclusions of the expert examination, the distributed materials contained calls for the overthrow of the constitutional order.

The offender was detained in February 2025 at his place of residence.

The Mensky District Court of Chernihiv region agreed with the prosecutor's arguments and sentenced the defendant to 6 years of imprisonment with confiscation of all property owned.

The pre-trial investigation under Part 4 of Article 408 and Parts 2, 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine was conducted by the Territorial Administration of the State Bureau of Investigation in Kyiv, with operational support from the Department of Military Counterintelligence of the SBU.
