At the request of the prosecutor's office from Germany, the suspect in the commission of a crime in Khmelnytskyi, who was wanted for almost 2 years

The Office of the Prosecutor General, within the framework of international legal cooperation with the competent authorities of the Federal Republic of Germany, ensured the extradition of a citizen of Ukraine who was wanted on suspicion of causing intentional serious bodily harm (Part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

On July 7, 2025, at the international checkpoint "Krakivets – Korchowa," the extradited individual was handed over to Ukrainian law enforcement.

As part of the pre-trial investigation, which is being conducted under the procedural guidance of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Prosecutor's Office by investigators of the National Police in the Khmelnytskyi region, it was established that in May 2023, the man, while in a state of alcohol intoxication, beat an acquaintance with a metal chain. The serious injuries inflicted on the victim resulted in the loss of vision in the left eye and a total loss of working capacity of 45%.

After committing the crime, he left the territory of Ukraine. Since then, he has been declared wanted by law enforcement authorities internationally. The suspect was detained in Germany in March 2025.

Currently, at the request of the prosecutor's office, he has been placed in custody without the possibility of bail.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
