Prosecutors of the Sviatoshyn District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv have notified an official of the Communal Enterprise for the Maintenance of Green Plantings of the Sviatoshyn District of Kyiv about suspicion regarding the embezzlement of local budget funds during the procurement of plants.

The suspect was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

In March - April 2023, the communal enterprise conducted a tender procurement for seedlings of trees and shrubs totaling over 5.2 million hryvnias.

It has been established that during the execution of this contract, the suspect provided knowingly false information in the invoices regarding the supplies to the communal enterprise of the respective products, based on which funds were transferred to the supplier. In fact, the Communal Enterprise for the Maintenance of Green Plantings of the Sviatoshyn District of Kyiv did not receive these plants.

As a result, the capital's budget suffered losses amounting to 2.1 million hryvnias.

The actions of the suspect have been qualified under part 4 of Article 191 and part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, namely embezzlement of property through abuse of office, as well as providing knowingly false information in official documents.

The suspect has been served with a motion for the selection of a preventive measure in the form of detention.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Sviatoshyn District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Kyiv under the procedural guidance of the Sviatoshyn District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
