In Chornomorsk, Odesa region, a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has been detained, who had been on the run for over 300 days for unauthorized departure from his unit.

Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Donetsk Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Eastern region, the detainee has been informed of the suspicion of treason and desertion (part 2 of Article 111, part 4 of Article 408 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation established that the military had unlawfully left the territory of the medical facility where he was serving in Kirovohrad region and traveled to Chornomorsk, where he was in a special zone. There, he contacted a representative of the Russian special services via the Telegram messenger. Through a chatbot, he transmitted information to the FSB of Russia about the locations, personnel strength, and military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Currently, prosecutors have submitted a motion to the court for the selection of a preventive measure in the form of detention for the suspect.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings is being conducted by the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
