A lieutenant colonel of the Ministry of Defense who is suspected of transporting conscripts to Europe has been detained

Under the procedural guidance of the Zakarpattia Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the sphere of defense of the Western region, the deputy head of one of the military representations of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has been exposed for organizing the illegal transportation of conscription-age men across the border of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, the serviceman promised men to arrange their travel to the state border with subsequent crossing through the mountainous and forested area of the Rakhiv district to Romania. He intended to use a service vehicle for unhindered movement through checkpoints.
The cost of transportation abroad is 7,500 euros per person.
He was detained while receiving the next part of the agreed sum in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
The serviceman has been informed of the suspicion under part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and at the request of the prosecutors, a preventive measure in the form of detention has been chosen, with the possibility of posting bail of over 908 thousand hryvnias.
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 9 years.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Zakarpattia region based on materials from the Security Service of Ukraine and operational support from the 94th Border Detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
