Prosecutors in Kyiv region have reported suspicion against a 54-year-old resident of Irpin, who was detained for the intentional murder of her husband (part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The incident occurred on the evening of November 21 in the couple's apartment. A domestic conflict arose between the man and the woman. According to the suspect, the argument flared up over her husband's allegedly pro-Russian views and his connections with relatives from the aggressor country. The woman also claims that her husband repeatedly threatened to kick her out of the house and used physical violence against her.

In a state of emotional agitation, the woman grabbed a kitchen knife and struck her husband in the chest. After the act, she immediately called for medical assistance and the police. However, the 70-year-old victim died from his injuries before the ambulance arrived.

After her detention under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, the woman was served with a notice of suspicion. At the request of the prosecutors, the court chose a preventive measure for her — detention.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. The prosecution is establishing all the circumstances of the conflict and verifying the credibility of the suspect's statements regarding possible prior domestic violence and the motives for the crime.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a lawful manner.
