The Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv Oblast continues to systematically respond to violations of environmental legislation and ensure real compensation for damages caused to the state and the environment.

Environmental prosecutors of Kyiv Oblast have secured compensation of over 4.4 million hryvnias for damages caused to the environment due to mass illegal logging in the forests of the nature reserve fund. 

Thus, the permanent forest user did not provide adequate protection for the forests in the territory of the Yahotyn Landscape Park named after Kyrylo Rozumovskyi and the park-monument of garden and park art "Zhurivskyi Park," which led to the illegal felling of 135 trees.

The Economic Court of Kyiv Oblast fully satisfied the prosecutors' claims and ordered the forest user to compensate for the damages incurred. Over 1 million hryvnias have already been transferred to the special fund for environmental protection.

The second episode concerns illegal logging in the territory of the nature reserve "Halahanove" and the same Zhurivskyi Park. 

In 2023–2024, unknown individuals carried out mass logging of hundreds of trees in the territory of the reserve and the park. The State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine," as the permanent forest user, did not provide adequate protection for the forest and did not identify the offenders.

The court agreed with the arguments of the prosecutor's office: it is the forest user who bears responsibility for the preservation of forests in the territories under their jurisdiction, regardless of who actually carried out the illegal logging. Thus, environmental prosecutors of Kyiv Oblast and the Brovary District Prosecutor's Office secured the collection of over 3.4 million hryvnias.

The received over 4.4 million hryvnias will be directed towards eliminating the consequences of environmental damage, restoring forest resources, and financing environmental protection measures.
