Thanks to the prosecutor's office, the state acquired the ownership of the Cherkasy Planetarium

Based on a court decision, the Cherkasy Planetarium, which has historical and cultural value, has been registered as state property. The information has been entered into the State Register of Property Rights to Real Estate.

The planetarium was built in the mid-1870s in the historical center of Cherkasy. Based on a sales contract, the building with an area of 600 square meters was illegally transferred to private ownership. The developer intended to convert it into a hotel, which received significant public attention.

To protect the recently discovered cultural heritage site, the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office entered the court case in February 2023 in the interests of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. The lawsuit to reclaim the building from private ownership was fully satisfied; however, the defendants appealed the court decision. The case has been reviewed multiple times by appellate and cassation courts.

In June 2025, the court decision to reclaim the historical building came into legal force. Currently, the prosecutor's office has ensured its enforcement. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine must determine the authority for managing state real estate and its appointment.
