Thanks to the Prosecutor's Office, the Medzibiz Castle will enter the State Register of Real Estate Monuments of Ukraine

According to the lawsuit of the Letichiv District Prosecutor's Office, the Medzhybizh Castle in the Khmelnytskyi region will be included in the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine as a monument of national significance.

Medzhybizh Castle is a monument of fortification architecture from the 16th century, which has a mixed style – from the masonry construction of the Lithuanian period to Eastern European Renaissance and pseudo-Gothic of the 19th century.

It includes: the Palace complex, the Church of St. Nicholas, sections of walls, and towers.

Prosecutors in court proved that since 2020, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine has not taken any measures to include the architectural monument in the State Register. This effectively makes it impossible to provide full state protection, devalues its architectural significance, and may lead to violations of the legal regime of its use, and consequently, to damage, destruction, and annihilation.

The Kyiv District Administrative Court agreed with the prosecutors' arguments and ordered the implementation of comprehensive measures to include the mentioned cultural heritage sites in the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine under the category of national significance.
